live drill

Dear New Rochelle School Community:

Please be advised that the New Rochelle Police Department will be conducting a live drill on Monday, August 14 at Trinity Elementary School involving simulated gunfire. No projectiles will be used in the training, only blank rounds. Community members may hear sounds that seem like gunfire coming from the building and may see police and fire department activity but should not be alarmed. There will be no students, faculty, or staff in the building during the drill.

Student, faculty, and staff safety is our highest priority at the City School District of New Rochelle. Coordinating with our community partners in the police and fire departments on preparedness drills such as this is not only required for state certification, but also helps to promote a seamless response should an emergency ever arise.

The training drill on Monday, August 14 will begin at 8:00 a.m. and conclude at 4:00 p.m. It will involve 30 youth volunteers who will role play as victims, as well as 40 police and fire responders.

Thank you in advance for giving our first responders the opportunity to conduct this important drill without onlookers or unnecessary traffic in the area. Working together, we can provide the safest possible environment in our school community and in the community of New Rochelle.

Sincerely,

Dr. Corey W. Reynolds

Superintendent of Schools
