We are excited to announce that the City School District of New Rochelle will have a Summer Music Academy program for rising 4th, 5th, and 6th-grade students. This program is for students interested in learning an instrument for the first time (rising grade 4 students) and students interested in advancing their musical growth (rising grade 5 and 6 students currently playing an instrument).
Students will spend one hour daily with a music teacher and New Rochelle High School students. Each student will have small group lessons and musicianship lessons during this time. Start times will be staggered based on the instrument.
The Summer Music Academy will occur between July 10th and August 3rd between 8:00 am and 11:00 am. Monday through Thursday only. Students will only be in attendance for 1 hour each day. There is no cost for the program, and instruments will be provided. You are welcome to rent your instrument if that is preferred.
Students will be able to play one of the following instruments:
Violin, Viola, Cello, String-Bass, Clarinet, Saxophone, Flute, Trombone, and Trumpet
If a student is already playing an instrument, we recommend that they continue with that instrument to gain more technical skills.
To learn about each instrument, please have your child watch the following short videos:
BAND INSTRUMENTS, ORCHESTRA INSTRUMENTS
Once we receive your application, we will follow up with new students regarding instrument selection.
Transportation will be provided to those who are in need.

Students who cannot attend the Summer Music Academy will be given the opportunity to start instrumental music studies at the beginning of Grade 4.
