City School District of New Rochelle voters on Tuesday approved the school district budget and bond propositions and elected Adam Cooper and David Peters to serve five-year terms on the Board of Education. Cooper had been filling an unexpired term on the Board before being elected to a full term. Unofficial results show the $298.8 million budget for the 2022-2023 school year passed with a vote of 2,448 to 900. It is effective July 1, which is also when the new board members' terms begin. 

Voters also approved a $24.3 million capital bond proposition to provide cash flow needed to complete repairs of damages caused by Hurricane Ida. The vote was 2,491 to 708 and will fund repairs to the New Rochelle High School library and pool and Isaac E. Young Middle School until state and federal reimbursement is received. 

Voters also passed the New Rochelle Public Library budget and Rhiannon Navin was elected to the library board. 

Election results will become official when the Board of Education approves them. The Board meets at 6:00 p.m. tonight,  Wednesday, May 18 at City Hall, 515 North Avenue, second floor.  The meeting may be attended in person or viewed via Zoom at this link: https://zoom.us/j/94085494293.
