Superintendent Search 2023

Please see the statement below from the Board of Education regarding the search for our next Superintendent:

As you may have recently read, Superintendent Jonathan Raymond indicated his last day in our district will be at the end of this school year. We would like to acknowledge and thank Mr. Raymond for his hard work and the significant contributions that he and his outstanding administrative team have made over the last 18 months. His abbreviated tenure was not anticipated, but we respect Mr. Raymond's decision and understand his need to be closer to his family.

Identifying our next Superintendent is the Board of Education's top priority and we are confident we will identify a candidate of the highest quality to succeed Mr. Raymond. The Board met to consider our options at this time and to discuss next steps. Please be assured that we are all committed to an inclusive, collaborative and open search. The Board of Education will consider internal candidates ready to continue the strong progress Superintendent Jonathan Raymond and his administrative team have established, as well as external candidates with proven, top-notch credentials. All candidates must demonstrate the ability to provide next-frontier levels of leadership and strategies that advance achievement for our students. Mr. Raymond has announced that he is departing the school district, due to family reasons, at the end of this school year.

If you have any questions for the Board regarding our process please email us at Superintendentsearch@nredlearn.org.

Best Regards,

William Iannuzzi, President
Adina Berrios Brooks, Vice President

The Board of Education on Jan. 24, 2023 presented this overview presentation on how it will recruit and select the next superintendent.

Logistics

The Board of Education will oversee the candidate-recruitment process, consider candidates and make a final choice after reviewing input from the community and stakeholders. Candidate applications will be submitted through OLASJobs.org, the main website where the school district posts job openings. The Board of Education will not see applications until the application window closes. The school district’s law firm, Ingerman Smith, will support the Board by organizing materials and applications.

Target Timeline

The Board has established this scheduled timeline:

  • Jan. 27-Feb. 8: Superintendent applications welcomed.

  • Feb. 9-12: The Board of Education reviews applications.

  • Feb 13-17: The Board of Education interviews candidates.

  • March 2: Presentations by finalists to a Citizens Advisory Committee and the Board of Education, and a final Board interview.

  • March 3-5: Final deliberations by the Board of Education.

  • March 6-13: Negotiations begin.

After March 14: The new superintendent is announced to the public.

Citizens Advisory Committee

The Citizens Advisory Committee will provide vital insights to the evaluation process. Members will be asked to attend presentations by the finalists for the superintendent position. Those presentations are tentatively scheduled for March 2. The group will comprise approximately 100 individuals -- 50% school district stakeholders appointed by the Board of Education and 50% by lottery, if community demand exceeds the number of spots available. Community members are highly encouraged to apply. Visit tinyurl.com/NewRoCAC. The application deadline is Feb. 17.
