This year’s NRHS class of Project SEARCH students recently celebrated the kickoff of their program at Montefiore New Rochelle. Project SEARCH students become interns at Montefiore for the school year. As part of their internship, they are assigned to either the kitchen, cafeteria, or medical records departments. Through the program, students work with mentors to learn job skills to benefit them in their post-high school careers.
At the kickoff, students were welcomed by managers, mentors, and members of partner organizations, including Ability Beyond, ACCES-VR, and the CSDNR. The students served coffee punch, bagels, and cake to their visitors.
One Montefiore staff member was moved to tears at the event's success, saying, "It's great to see the students so happy, I get so emotional when I think about it."

La clase de estudiantes del Project SEARCH de NRHS de este año celebró recientemente el inicio de su programa en Montefiore New Rochelle. Los estudiantes del Proyecto SEARCH se convierten en pasantes en Montefiore durante el año escolar. Como parte de su pasantía, se les asigna a los departamentos de cocina, cafetería o registros médicos. A través del programa, los estudiantes trabajan con mentores para aprender habilidades laborales que los beneficien en sus carreras posteriores a la escuela secundaria.
Al inicio, los estudiantes fueron recibidos por gerentes, mentores y miembros de organizaciones asociadas, incluidas Ability Beyond, ACCES-VR y CSDNR. Los estudiantes sirvieron ponche, café, bagels y pastel a sus visitantes.
