ALMS Information

Dear 8th Grade Families,

We are excited to announce that our Moving Up Ceremony for the Class of 2025 will take place on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. The ceremony will be held in the Whitney Young Auditorium of New Rochelle High School, and we look forward to celebrating this important milestone with you.

Student Arrival and Attire

Students should arrive dressed in their caps and gowns, along with appropriate attire underneath. Gowns must remain open upon arrival, and caps may be decorated with school-appropriate words and images only. To maintain the integrity and formality of the event, no additional items (e.g., bags, balloons, gifts, or signs) should be brought into the auditorium.

Tassels will be distributed to students on the morning of the ceremony to prevent them from being misplaced beforehand.

Ceremony Details

• Start Time: 11:00 a.m. (sharp) - students are required to be at the high school by 9:15 am

• Estimated Duration: Approximately 90 minutes

• Please plan to arrive early, as the ceremony will begin promptly

Rehearsal

A full rehearsal will take place at the high school on Tuesday, June 24, 2025. Students will be transported to and from the rehearsal by yellow school buses. Dismissal on rehearsal day will remain the same as a regular school day.

We are proud of our students and look forward to celebrating their achievements together. Thank you for your continued support in making this a memorable and respectful event for all.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to Collinsmith@nredlearn.org.

Warm regards,

Principal C. Edwards-Thomas

However, refunds can be issued if needed.

 Trip Details

  • Holiday Hill is located at 43 Candee Rd, Prospect, CT 06712

  • Please check the website for available activities. Bathing suits, towels, water shoes, sneakers, and sunscreen would be safe options to pack for the day.

  • All participants must arrive at ALMS by 7:00 am to prepare to board the bus by 7:15 am SHARP.

  • Students will be alphabetically assigned to faculty members on specific buses.  Students will not be allowed to swap bus assignments.  They will travel on the same bus, both coming and going.

  • There is no eating or drinking on the buses.  All food & drink must be consumed or thrown away before boarding the bus.

  • Students are to stay seated the entire bus ride.

  • When we arrive at Holiday Hill in the morning, each student and staff member will be given a bracelet. They must wear it for the duration of the trip.

  • Once everyone has boarded the buses, students will be given an ALMS t-shirt (courtesy of the PTA) that all must wear for the duration of the trip.

  • Students must check in with the same faculty members they ride the bus with four times throughout the day. These check-ins are necessary to ensure safety and accountability. If any student misses their check-in, once located, they will be brought to a designated campus area, forgo the remaining time and activities, and sit with Mr. Smith for the remainder of the day.

Important Reminders

  • The forecast may call for showers at some point during the day, so please pack an umbrella or jacket.

  • This is a closed school function. Only ALMS students are permitted to attend.

  • Buses are scheduled to arrive back at ALMS at approximately 5:15 p.m. Please be sure to arrange for your child to get home. The district will not provide bus service from ALMS to anywhere in New Rochelle.

  • ALL school and district rules and regulations detailed in the code of conduct will be enforced throughout the event.
