School election/budget vote ballots received vial mail by 5 p.m. on June 16 will be canvased.

Ballots submitted in lockboxes just still be received by 5 p.m. on June 9

WE HAVE BEEN HEARD.

THE GOVERNOR HAS EXTENDED THE SCHOOL ELECTION DEADLINE TO INCLUDE ALL BALLOTS RECEIVED BY THE DISTRICT CLERK VIA MAIL BY 5 P.M. ON JUNE 16. HAND-DELIVERED BALLOTS MUST STILL BE DROPPED OFF IN LOCKBOXES BY 5 P.M. JUNE 9. ALL LOCKBOX LOCATIOINS WILL REMAIN OPEN UNTIL 5 P.M. ON JUNE 9. ALL BALLOTS RECEIVED IN LOCKBOXES BY THAT TIME OR VIA MAIL BY 5 P.M. ON JUNE 16 WILL BE CANVASED.

2020-21 Budget Calendar - Vote on June 9

The Board of Education election and school budget vote has been set for June 9, 2020 by executive order of Gov. Andrew Cuomo issued May 1.

The election is being conducted via absentee ballots, which have been mailed to all qualified voters of the District, including pre-paid postage on return envelopes. Completed ballots must be submitted in lockboxes at one of six locations by 5 p.m. Tuesday, June 9, or received by the District Clerk via mail by 5 p.m. June 16. The lockbox locations are:

  • City Hall entrance from the parking lot behind the police station (original location).
  • Isaac E. Young Middle School, 270 Centre Ave.
  • Albert Leonard Middle School, 25 Gerada Lane
  • Columbus Elementary School, 275 Washington Ave.
  • George M. Davis Elementary School, 80 Iselin Drive.
  • 95 Lincoln Ave. (WestCOP)

Friday
City Hall: 8 a.m. – 8 p.m.
All other locations: 1 p.m. - 8 p.m.
 
Saturday
All locations: 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
 
Sunday, June 7
9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
 
Monday, June 8
8 a.m. – 8 p.m.
 
Tuesday, June 9
8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
 

SCHOOL ELECTION DISTRICT NAME AND NUMBER ON OATH ENVELOPE

Attached is information pertaining to School Election District names and numbersOpens in a new browser tab. The City School District of New Rochelle is divided into 13 School Election Districts. New Rochelle voters are asked to complete the oath envelope by including signature, date, and on the opposite side of envelope, include their name, complete address, and:

County of: Westchester

School District: City School District of New Rochelle

School Election District (if any):  [this is based on the house number and street of voter residence]

Example: for Abbey Close, the School Election District is No. 3 - Davis School; for 669 Main Street, the School Election District is No. 2 - Columbus School; for 299 Lincoln Avenue, the School Election District is No. 9 - Webster School]

Although canvassing of absentee ballots will be conducted at one location (City Hall), it will include all of the 13 School Election Districts.

May 18                  Budget Review Session to discuss Superintendent's proposed changes. (Evening.)

May 19                  Board of Education meeting. Back-up date for additional budget work: 7:00 p.m.

May 20                  Board of Education adopts final budget.

May 28                  Public Hearing on Proposed 2020-21 budget – via Zoom videoconference.

June 9                  Budget Vote & Board of Education election, Ballots due by 5 p.m.
