Kindergarten

September 3 - Wednesday, only full-day kindergarten - 8:27 a.m. to 11:40 a.m.
AM and PM Half-day Kindergarten begins Thursday, September 4.

Elementary Grades 1-5

Wednesday, September 3 - Half-day for elementary Grades 1 to 5 - 8:30 to 11:40 a.m. Thursday, September 4 is a full day for elementary schools.

Middle Schools

Wednesday, September 3 -

Albert Leonard Middle School: Grade 6:10:30 a.m. to Noon; Grade 7: 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.; Grade 8: 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.
Isaac E. Young Middle School: Grade 6: 8:30 to 10:30 a.m.; Grade 7: 10 to 11 a.m.; Grade 8: 11 a.m. to 12 Noon.

High School:

Wednesday, September 3: Grade 9 only - 8:10 a.m. to 3:01 p.m.

Thursday, September 4: Grade 9 Regular Schedule; Grade 10 - 8:10 a.m. report to the auditorium for orientation followed by regular classes; Grade 11 -9:30 A.M. for orientation only. Grade 12 - 10:45 a.m. report to auditorium for orientation only.

Friday, September 5 - Regular class schedule for all high school students.

Middle & High School Transportation

Public transportation to New Rochelle High School and both middle schools begins Thursday, September 4.

New Rochelle High School will open as scheduled.

Damage sustained to the high school's South Tower during a storm on Friday, August 15 was limited to the South Tower area, affecting the roof, office space, tower stairwell and two classrooms, No one was hurt during the fire. The tower roof will be replaced. New Rochelle High School will open as scheduled.

Welcome to the 2008-09 school year. As we look to the promise of the new school year, we remember the unparalleled success of the New Rochelle School District of the past! During the 2007-08 school year, our District achieved a significant milestone when the New York State Commissioner of Education officially recognized every school within our District as High Achieving, High Performing or Rapidly Improving. The announcement of this accomplishment came on the heels of national recognition for the Isaac E. Young Middle School which was selected as one of only five middle schools from around the country that were identified as Break Through Schools.
