"Season of Light" Free Planetarium Show at NRHS

The New Rochelle High School Planetarium will present five sessions of the "Season of Light" planetarium show free for the community. In addition to the recorded program, high school Astronomy teacher Mr. Bruce Zeller will point out the bright and crisp winter stars and will explain by thin month’s full moon looks especially large and bright. He will simulate the Sun’s most Southern point called the Winter Solstice. Doors open 15 minutes before the show. Once the show begins, there is no admittance. "Season of Light" will be shown Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Monday December 16 to 22 at 7:30 PM, and Saturday, December 20 at 5 PM. The New Rochelle High School Planetarium entrance is located at the corner of Flandreau and Argyll Roads at the corner of McKenna Field. One of "The Best Places to Raise Your Kids 2009" Cites Business Week

Business Week Magazine named New Rochelle one of "The Best Places to Raise Your Kids 2009" - a list released on November 12, 2008.  (Link to Business Week web page)  The magazine noted the City's affordable real estate as well as it's rich ethnicity.  Business Week named one community in each state, based on an analysis of real estate value, and other determining factors, including school performance, household expenditures, income, diversity, as well as museums, parks, and amenities.
WCBS-TV News Reporter Tony Aiello, also a New Rochelle resident, spoke to Mayor Noam Bramson about the value of real estate. At Daniel Webster Elementary School, Principal Joe Williams noted the strength of the school system and rich ethnic diversity of the community. (Link to WCBS-TV News report)
